"But reason is a property of the individual. There is no such thing as a collective mind."

I agree with this statement for the reason that everyone's brain works on a different level. Everyone has their own thoughts. Even though computers all work on one global brain, they're still only computers. The computer could never replace our brain, our brains change and learn through experience. A computer must be programmed. As we grown and change our brains and thoughts adapt to that. A computer could never do that.

I believe that religon is a very important part of helping man's struggle to deal with reality. Look at everything around us. Almost all of this seems impossible. The way we grow, the animals, the plants, without a central power how could all of this exist? Living is an amazing thing, and religion gives people a sense of morality. It helps determine between right and wrong. So therefore I believe that religion helps the man's struggle to deal with reality and survive.

I believe that there is no such thing as the "common good". What is good for one thing is not neccessarily good for another. The "common good" is a myth that people make up in order to get everyone else to go along with their ideas and plans. The "common good" is fictional. I agree with Ayn Rand's viewpoints on the common good. Every tyrant in the history of the world has raised their tyrancy based on the "common good", so if they support the "common good" then what is individuality?

Blog 3

1.What might it be like to live in a society where there are no “selves”, and “we” has replaced “I”?
Everything in a world that there would be no selves and there would only be we, it would not be a world of individualists. I don't think it would be a very enojoyable place to live. I mean, you are supposed to have yourself, and be yourself, but in a place where there is only the "we" nothing be would be different. It would be a place where there would be fear, and nothing but living for others, even though they have earned no respect or no love from their fellow brothers and sisters. I do not believe that the world "we" should ever replace the word "I".

3. Explain the significance of the names Rand chose to give to her characters. Why were these particular names used?
Every name that was used to name the characters in her book were words that represented the collectiveness of their community. Like Equality and Liberty, and Justice. They all stand for the equality between all members of the community.

4. On p.51, Equality 7-2521 discussed the Unspeakable Word. What do you think this word is any why would it be considered unspeakable in this society? What would happen if this word was used and how would it change the way people think of their fellow people and theirselves?

I believe that the unspeakable word is I, it's a community that is meant to be equal and the same and collective. But as soon as someone speaks the word I then everything that they work for is gone. THat is why I believe that I is the unspeakable word.

How love effects people

Love is a very, very powerful emotion. I never knew how much it could effect someone until it actually happened to me. It makes me want to be a better person. I was blessed enough to find my true love. Most people say that I'm too young to know true love, but i believe that it's never too early to fall in love. There are first loves, there is infatuation, and then there's the true thing. I know that what I have found is true love, I've already had my first love, and it was nothing compared to what I feel now. Love is a strange but wonderful feeling. It gives you longing and fulfillment at the same time. Being in love makes me want to be the person that they can love. It brings out the best in me, it makes me happy. I can't believe how utterly happy I am when he looks into my eyes, when he holds me close, and when he whispers that he loves me. I could never believe in such a breathtaking emotion if it hadn't happened to me. I will never forget how it feels to be in love so deeply, and i'll never find his equal.
